How to distinguish between hydrogen peroxide sterilization is dry or wet?

When we faced our customers, we found that many customers have such a question: Is the hydrogen peroxide generator with dehumidification function a dry method, and the dehumidification function is a wet method? Obviously the answer is no, what is the difference between dry and wet?

First, the sterilization process

Dry method: The core technology of the dry method is flashing technology, which can completely vaporize hydrogen peroxide. The molecular particle size is 10-10m, the Brownian motion can be performed in space, the distribution is uniform, and the whole process is controlled below the condensation point. It is a "dry" process to avoid condensation and corrosion.

Wet method: Whether it is micro-condensation, dry fog, or other ionization methods, it is generally summarized as a simple heating method, without dehumidification, the molecular size is on the micron level, the distribution cannot be guaranteed to be uniform, and the maximum depletable space volume of a single device is less than 600m3. Moreover, the sterilization process does not control the humidity, and it is easy to reach the dew point, which is easy to corrode the contact surface.

Second, the sterilization cycle

Dry method: It can effectively control the relative humidity of the sterilization space, ensure that the H 2 O 2 vapor does not condense, and maintain the characteristics of low concentration and high efficiency of sterilization; the relative humidity controlled before each sterilization is the same, and the developed parameters represent all working conditions; There is strong repeatability.

Wet method: The relative humidity is not controlled. The injected H 2 O 2 vapor should be determined according to the original relative humidity in the room. Otherwise, it is difficult to control the condensation point. Therefore, the developed parameters cannot represent all the working conditions and it is difficult to repeat the verification.

Third, the verification method

Dry method:
- In the sterilized space, first simulate the airflow model of the space with a chemical indicator to find the most unfavorable point;
- According to the results of the chemical indicator verification, the biological indicator is arranged at three levels: high, medium and low.
- Focus on the most unfavorable points, can achieve complete 6log sterilization
- The verification method is scientific and rigorous; it is highly recognized by the majority of certified experts.

Wet method :
- The customer himself verifies according to the original formaldehyde or ozone method;
- There are few verification points, the results are not representative, and it is difficult to pass the recognition of high standards and strict requirements of certification experts;
- Cannot achieve full 6log sterilization effect.

Fourth, emissions

Dry method:
- The entire sterilization process of VHP is maintained in a vaporized state, and the discharge time of the vaporization state is shorter than that of the wet process;
- No residue relative to liquid hydrogen peroxide; no residue verification is required.

Wet method:
- High concentration of H 2 O 2 condensate on the contact surface. If the contact surface is to pass the verification test of residual concentration below 1 ppm, increase the discharge time;
- Residue verification is required to demonstrate that the residual concentration of the contact surface is below 1 ppm.

Fifth, material compatibility

Dry method: Vaporized hydrogen peroxide sterilization process (dry process) has been proven to be compatible with most materials through more than 30 years of practical application in Europe and America; widely used in pharmaceutical, aerospace, medical, military and other fields. No corrosion was observed.

Wet method: high concentration of H 2 O 2 condensate may cause corrosion when it contacts the surface of the object, and the compatibility is poor. For color steel plates, equipment and other materials, there are many cases of corrosion;

Sixth, sterilization efficiency

Dry method:
- low concentration of short-term sporicidal ability;
- Compared to liquids, gaseous hydrogen peroxide is distributed better and more uniformly; it can achieve a full 6-log bactericidal effect and is easily certified by the FDA and WHO.

,

Wet method:
- Liquid hydrogen peroxide with high concentration for a long time will have strong sporicidal ability; therefore, the concentration must be high enough and the time must be long enough, otherwise it is difficult to achieve 6 log sterilization effect;
- The distribution of liquid hydrogen peroxide is difficult to achieve a uniform effect compared to the gaseous state, so many points can only reach 3log or 4log.

Seven, customer use effect feedback

Dry method:

- Good compatibility of materials, no corrosion; can be used frequently without any concern;
- Recognized by customers worldwide as the safest, most efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to formaldehyde and ozone.

Wet method:

- Some customers have corroded color steel plates during use, and epoxy floor blistering;
- Micro-atomization technology, which has different degrees of corrosion for the weak links of many key equipments, and has certain use risks;
